The other day when I was looking online for some home décor items, I ran across a cute sign with the phrase: “Be the kind of woman who when your feet hit the floor each morning the Devil says, Oh Crap, She’s Up!”
I didn’t buy the sign, but the phrase has stuck with me. I think it’s because it speaks to the heart of who I WANT to be. Unfortunately, it’s not always the way that I actually live my life. I can get derailed so easily.
Early morning distractions can turn into all day preoccupations that steal my time and attention from what matters most… spending quality time with my Heavenly Father, and allowing HIS wisdom to guide and direct my daily plans. Preoccupation with the opinions of others, fear of displeasing people, and worry about what they might think, can keep me from freely speaking what’s on my heart and mind. Intentionally choosing comfort over the often challenging call of being a Christ follower has sometimes rendered my spiritual fight to be a lot more bark than bite… and a weak bark at that.
I’m grateful that my God is faithful, even when I’m not. How amazing is it that HIS mercies are new each morning?! Meaning, every-day I have a new chance to be the woman that he has created and called me to be.
The same is true for you! What kind of person will you be today?
Lord let me be a woman who unashamedly lives for you. Let your opinion rise above all other opinions that people may have about me. Help me to be bold in my faith and confident in my convictions, no matter the cost. And though my tendency is to people please, help me to first seek to honor you. Thank you for your unconditional love and faithfulness. In Jesus Name, Amen.
